My name is Terri Allen. I am an Independent Education Counselor and I started Keystone College Counseling to provide personal guidance to students and their parents in order to lower the stress level and improve the outcomes of the college search and application process. I founded my company on the idea that every student has a uniquely different goal when searching for their college. I believe that there is a “best-fit” for every student. What will work for one student will not work for another. I encourage my students not to compare themselves to other students, but to compare colleges to their individual goals, academic capabilities and achievements, social life, and comfort zone. With this in mind, I customize a plan for each student to research and apply to colleges. Creating a well-balanced list of schools will lead to future acceptance choices and, ultimately, the best-fit college.
In addition to this powerful approach, I see myself as the team orchestrator- working with the student and parents, and as a buffer to help make a challenging project less painful for all involved. My organizational skills and online Custom College Plan platform will keep communication open and the student on task. I accomplish my mission when the student completes the college search and application process with great results and less stress!

Like many parent/teenager relationships, our children never receive constructive criticism well from us. We were dreading having to go through the college application process, knowing the friction that would be ever-present. Then we discovered that we could hire Terri to be the point person to walk us through the process. It put us on the same team with our children, instead of them fighting us every step of the way. Terri started working with our children in their sophomore years to prepare them for test-taking in their junior years, and to help find summer camps and other activities that could showcase their interests and fill in their activities on their college applications. Terri has extensive knowledge that is very helpful in choosing a college and choosing a major. We were so prepared going into the fall of their senior years, that it was far less stressful for both our children and us. Terri did a great job helping both of our children with their essays. In addition to helping with the college applications, Terri also helped with honors college and scholarship applications. We feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with Terri, and our children are both very happy with their college choices.
